Where the F*** U Been?

I didn't think it would happen this time. Every time I start a blog, I get excited about it and then something happens in real life, "A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!!!" So, blogging got put off for a week or two. But I am back, I am not giving up just yet.

So, to skip straight to what has been going on, I've been playing the Beta hoping to discover something epic. The problem is there is not much to discover yet. Since this is the first MMO beta I've participated in, I was not prepared for all the bugs and crashes. I mean, it's really buggy! First there was a "patch" that made the client crash every 3 minutes. A hacked .exe file that fixes the issue appeared on the Internet later that afternoon, however, using it means breaking the terms of use, so I didn't go down that road. Yet, it took Blizzard more than a few days to fix the issue. This and similar problems, like character copying problems, have a tendency of throwing you off balance, so I've been having a real difficult time playing like I normally do on live.

Still, what I found pretty awesome is the fact that you can play both live and beta at the same time. Since I don't have 2 active accounts, dual boxing between these two makes waiting for scans and mailboxes a lot less painful.

I copied most of my important 85's to the only EU beta realm with all of my gold on each of them, so now I basically have unlimited amounts of gold over there. I did an insignificant amount of leveling. I spent most of my time figuring out what the mats for new professions are and finding ways to acquire them. Enchanting is the first profession I am leveling. Acquiring mats is the same as it's been in all previous expansions. Armor disenchants into Spirit Dust and weapons into Lesser Mysterious Essences or the greater version of it. The ridiculous part is buying items for 100g or less and disenchanting them into these mats which actually sell for 10-20k gold per piece. I know, gold is meaningless on the Beta/PTR servers, but how do you escape a craving to make that kind of profit?

Oops, back to reality.

I've been spending a great deal of time watching live streams by Jim Younkin and Shannon Lasell. Before discovering the whole livestreaming community, I was really close to quitting the game, but first Jim and later Shannon, really inspired me to get back on the grind and hit that 1 million gold mark, which I've gotten 100k closer to since the last time I wrote, so I am now sitting at 800k liquid gold. Getting to one million might not take as long as I thought. As this expansion slowly winds down, new markets are opening up. Interestingly, the same markets that used to open in the end of the last expansion. For example, Dream Emerald, Demonseye and Ocean Sapphire can sometimes be bought for under 3g 75s from the auction house. That is their vendor value after being cut. That is pure profit. It might not be huge, but it's absolutely risk free, so if you are running out of ideas or your markets are messed up, it might be something you could look into. Similar thing is happening with uncommon gems. Jaspers and Alicite are being sold for under Alicite Pendants and Jasper Rings vendor value.

Out of boredom, a lot of people have been leveling alts and professions, so there is an increased demand for low level crafting materials. I've been having fun flipping those and using TSM's destroy search to turn cheap herbs low level alts are picking into inks. Ink prices went from my usual threshold of 6g/ink to 3-4g/ink for some inks.
I also like disenchanting low level weapons and armor into enchanting mats, and those are always in demand. Don't be afraid to post those dusts and essences at high prices, even if there is a lot of lower-priced competition. Demand for these items happens in surges and prices deviate immensely.
Of course, everything I am saying might sound like utter Bulls**t to you, because this is very server dependant, and more likely to happen on a high population server like mine.

You might notice some lack of structure in this post, since I am only typing what's coming to my mind about what I've been doing since my last post. I plan to fix this by posting more frequently and about specific discoveries in the live/beta markets, instead of having to cover 3 weeks of playing the game.

Stay tuned, everyone, and if you would like to do something together in the beta, leave a comment.
